
Lamb positivity pays at Janmac annual offering
A record number of registered bidders was an apt reward for the team at Janmac stud after facing consecutive very tough seasons.
Co-principal Grant Hausler said there was “a lot of positivity in the shed” on Wednesday, when the stud hosted their annual sale at Goroke, Victoria.

Janmac records full clearance of 181 rams in ‘overwhelming’ result
Janmac Poll Dorset and White Suffolk stud wrapped up one of its most successful on-property sales at Goroke on Wednesday.
Janmac stud co-principals Grant and Bryce Hausler said the family was “overwhelmed” at the success of the sale.
The stud achieved a full clearance rate and the largest number of registered buyers ever recorded in 21 years of auctions.
“We couldn’t believe it,” Grant Hausler said.

Prime lamb game set to pay dividends this spring
If there was ever a year to “step into good sheep,” this is it, says Grant Hausler of Janmac Studs.
“The team of rams you buy this year will hopefully take you into a good season and good prices, and what you purchase now is going to sire 150 lambs or more, that’s a pretty good investment,” he said.

New top price record for Janmac’s Poll Dorset rams at Goroke
Renewed positivity in the lamb industry and continued support of good genetics was evident at the Janmac annual on-property ram sale on Wednesday. The Hausler family achieved a stud record high price for a Poll Dorset, as well as a very solid clearance across both breeds.
Of the 144 Poll Dorsets offered, 136 sold to average $1549 – nearly $300 more than the previous sale – to a top price of $13,000. The top ram, lot 5 Janmac 230348, was purchased by Charles Koch of Tallageira Pastoral Co from Frances, South Australia.

Janmac Spring ram sale sold 25 rams to one buyer
Janmac White Suffolk and Poll Dorset stud’s spring ram sale was dubbed a success within the current market conditions, with a high clearance and a return from long term clients who purchased a volume of 25 rams.
With the sale split between Poll Dorset and White Suffolk rams the Poll Dorset rams sold twice to a top price of $2,600 and cleared 151 of 164 rams to an average $1293.

Janmac sires breed suckers to hit market sweet spot
A large selection of impressive rams by Janmac’s homegrown sires will feature in the stud’s annual spring sale this year, highlighting the depth of the stud’s genetics.
And having recently returned from Sheepvention, one of the largest sheep expos in the country, Janmac Poll Dorset and White Suffolk Stud co-principal Grant Hausler said weight and quality wise their sheep were “right on track”.
